German car firms were meant to make sure we got a good Brexit deal. What happened?

Well, these German car manufacturers are taking their sweet time. Remember them? The guys who were going to make sure the EU gave us a good deal? All right, so they never actually said they would make sure the EU gave us a good deal. But we were told they would. All the way through the referendum campaign. The EU would have to give us a good deal, because German car manufacturers would insist on it. To them, the British were such important customers that, the minute we voted Leave, they’d be straight on the phone to Angela Merkel, growling, “Now listen up, Frau Chancellor. Give Britain a good deal – or else! Remember – we are the ones in charge here, not you or those clowns in Brussels!”

Which just goes to show what the German car makers really think of their British customers.

Your point being? We have engineered some of the best cars in the world. Stop running this country down. If you don't like it....leave.

We have engineered some of the best cars in the world. Our problem is that we were never any good at making a business out of it. This was sometimes due to political interference, sometimes due to board level infighting. I was read a book documenting the story of the creation of British Leyland and it ultimate demise due to board level infighting leading to a lack of direction over which models/badges get the next new model and a certain amount of political interference in how BL was created in the first place, which didn't help with the former.

They install indicators. Just cause their British customers don't use them doesn't mean it's the German manufacturers fault.

As for what they think of their customers, it's business. They will sell where they can, but they won't bend over backwards to make sales where it's not good business sense.

...but hey, maybe blaming them is easier than the truth.

Examples please? The only thing British cars are famous for are rust, ugly or too expensive for what you actually get. The ones that were more or less successful have now all foreign owners who drastically improved them.
