Well whilst Grayling may or may not be a muppet.

This article just demonstrates how things work in big business -

Tendered for a contract and did not get it - try and make out something somewhere was unfair and try and sue someone.

    But this really confuses me.

"The latest legal action from Bechtel will come as an added blow to transport secretary Chris Grayling, who is fighting off calls to resign after agreeing a £33m settlement with Eurotunnel over his decision to award three suppliers with contracts to provide extra ferries in a no-deal Brexit."

Why did we pay someone money because we bought more boats (or didn't depending on what you read)?

Since when was the Eurotunnel a protected monopoly for crossing the channel?

That’s exactly the point - they are not a protected monopoly, and neither are the other cross-channel companies.

There are rules for fair tenders, and Grayling broke them.

And once the UK-US trade agreement is finalised, you'll be seeing a lot more of this....
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

yes there are and you only have to pay lip service to them just like the French Government does. You just invite (pay) organisations to submit a bid and then go with your preferred supplier regardless.

That’s the usual way to do it, yes. Which our Brexit-supporting Transport Minister is too cretinous to do.

But its not just the Transport Minister is it.

When our government follows the rules it doesn't take the French approach but actually plays by the rules and ends up awarding contracts to non UK organisations.

We try to play cricket whilst the rest of Europe plays rounders.

You’re assuming that the rest of our Tory government always follow the rules, and also assuming that the French always don’t.

Take the chip off your shoulder.

I was referring to any British Government over the past 30 years +, You need to get the Tory brick off your shoulder

Then perhaps you would like to inform the rest of us by stating which French Government contracts have been awards to non French own companies.

                    Not relevant.

British government contracts are also awarded to French companies. Maybe they’re just better at making/building stuff and tendering for contracts.

What you would need to show (as it was you that made the claim) is evidence where French contracts have been awarded to French companies where there were other bidders that were clearly better.
