The Campaign for Real Ale said the Government will have the freedom to cut beer duty in pubs after the UK leaves the EU.
Because the government currently lacks that freedom? Plums.

Perhaps they’ve been on too much of their own product.

Given the fact that billions of assets currently taxed in the UK have recently been moved to the EU, how likely is it that the UK government will cut alcohol duty?
        I'm alright Jack

Beer might get cheaper for our EU friends visiting the UK with their £1.50 per €1.00.

Doesn't the UK have a relatively low duty on booze compared to the EU nations?

Depends which nation you’re talking about.

No, nowhere near it. The U.K. is consistently near the top of the table for alcohol duties whether it’s beer, wine, or spirits.

Ireland and Scandinavia run us close, but the rest are the Tier 2 nations when it comes to booze tax.
