No Deal exports grind to a halt

This one’s particularly hilarious, we’re running out of the right type of approved pallets to ship goods on.

Who’s in charge at the DExEU again, that should be keeping tabs on these details?

Brexit: Ministers to hold emergency no-deal meeting with business - Business Insider

The UK government is due to hold emergency talks with industry leaders today after discovering that the country doesn't have the right pallets to continue exporting goods to the European Union if it leaves without a deal next month.

Pallets are wooden or plastic structures which companies use to transport large volumes of goods. Under strict EU rules, pallets arriving from non-member states must be heat-treated or cleaned to prevent contamination, and have specific markings to confirm they meet a series of standards.

Most pallets currently used by British exporters do not conform to the rules which non-EU countries or "third countries" adhere to, as EU member states follow a much more relaxed set of regulations.

DEFRA last week confirmed to industry leaders that the United Kingdom will not have even close to enough EU-approved pallets for companies to use for exporting to the EU after a potential no-deal exit.

So what? Bucaneering exporters will find new markets in Empire 2.0.

Do you want the UK to stay in the single market on 29 March or to leave?

If the EU doesn't give Britain a temporary exemption to get up to speed.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Then can put in place any rules they choose. And so can we.

You voted to be a third country. Those are the existing rules for third countries exporting to the EU that we all knew about before the referendum was held. You knew what you were voting for.

Not all change is bad, maybe this will get the U.K. out of the rut it was in, etc, etc.

Exactly. Some people are so scared of change, they won't even change pallets .

It seems to be a common theme among Brexiters - “we want change!”, closely followed by “why do things have to change?!”.

                    It’s all so unfair....
