Your Chicken’s Salmonella Problem Is Worse Than You Think | WIRED

Thomas Gremillion, a food safety expert and director of the Food Policy Institute at the Consumer Federation of America, said the results show that the “US regulatory approach is woefully inadequate.” And FSIS data suggest Big Chicken’s salmonella problem might be getting worse.
The chlorine doesn't work. If you discover your chicken is a bit underdone, it's too late, you're going to be very ill.

Once the UK food standards drop you will probably get salmonella at some point

Why are UK food standards going to drop?

At least we'll piss the Dutch off if we don't import chicken from the EU.

Liam Fox agrees to scrap EU food standards to allow US chicken imports

The US will ask for it. Whether or not we get an FTA with them will depend on it.

Sources claim Fox wants to alter food standards through the Trade Bill. Fox described the story as "fake news" in a tweet.

That’s a well-argued and rebutted statement in that tweet. Debate over, then.

The UK government has repeatedly denied that it plans to lower food standards one Britain has left the EU, with the International Trade Secretary Liam Fox last year describing reports to the contrary as "baseless" and "untrue".

It’s hardly balance. Think about it for just two minutes:

                  - the U.K. currently has the same food standards as the EU.
                  - those standards are different to the US.
                  - in order to harmonise standards, one or both countries will need to amend standards.
                  - the USA is a market of 350m people and aggressive, trade-wise.

Do you think the USA will change their standards without the U.K. also needing to at least compromise, at worst capitulate?

Is that the same Fox who said the trade deals would be the easiest in history? How's that working out? And you still believe him?
