pity Scotland is part of the United Kingdom, otherwise they would have had a choice they could have given up on the subsidies and go independent when they voted out years ago ... oops !
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Of course if Scotland became independent and Shetland decided differently, guess what happens to the oil.
There are huge expanses of oil fields all around Scotland, Orkney and Shetland. If we were all independent we would be pretty rich.

The point now is to look at alternatives to leave the oil in the ground and to use renewables. Scotland is well advanced to do that.

Scotland renewable energy generation reaches record levels

Renewable energy generation in Scotland reached record levels in 2018, according to statistics published by the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

The statistics show that renewable sources provided an equivalent of 74.6% of Scotland’s gross electricity consumption in 2018.

Scotland’s renewable generation in 2018 was 27,708 gigawatt hours (GWh), a 6.1% increase from the previous record set in 2017. This level of generation is equivalent to powering every household in Scotland for more than two years.

Electricity generated by offshore wind increased with capacity rising from 246 megawatts (MW) to 623MW and generation increasing from 616GWh in 2017 to 1,369GWh.

Scotland’s net electricity exports rose from 12,868GWh in 2017 to 24,379GWh in 2018, almost doubling from the previous year.

That last bit - we export to England mainly. We also export water and gas. When we are independent we will still sell you the stuff you need to survive. It makes a nonsense of all the people saying you wouldn't trade with Scotland after independence.

Independence? I thought a binding decision had already been made on this topic.

Circumstances change. Past decisions may be binding but not for long.

Why is England so scared of letting Scotland go?

Scared? Where do you get that from?

From all the people who keep saying "nope, you've made your decision already!!" and all the reticence from westminster.

The UK is in a bad position now with Brexit and Scotland leaving (and probably re-joining the EU) would be the last nail in the coffin.

That's why England is terrified. If you're not scared, why don't you just give Scotland the chance to get another referendum?

Trust me - if you ask both the English and the Scots to vote you will get an over whelming majority in the Scotland Fook Off camp.

the only reason you are still here is because you did not vote to leave a few years back...

Great, so why don't you guys just let us have a second referendum. Or even why don't you have a referendum to kick us out of the UK?

Either way, will be a win for Scotland

As far as I am aware no one is stopping you

                    except yourselves

because you had one a few years back

and there are some people in scotland who want to keep asking the same question over and over again in the hope they eventually get the answer they want.

but like some people in England really.

As long as Shetland and Orkney get a referendum on their status in the event of Scottish Independence.
