        Yup, eventually.

        All we need is to overhaul the education system so that we produce people capable of designing and making the products
        Then we need to create a manufacturing industry that isn't sold off to financiers who want to make sure they get all the profit out with scant regard for reinvesting.

        So, that's maybe 25-30 years.

            agreed, then at that point we would be much more able to compare our lot with those in the EU.

              quality might have been lower pre-EU days, but they were certainly cheaper, as was almost everything else that was made in the UK at that time when compared to the EU. Note that Dacia cars are not very good, but they sell like hot cakes because they are inexpensive.

                    But we are not in the pre-EU times anymore... The investment to, all of a sudden, create an entire industry to build those components would be enormous!
