Can the U.K. leave the EU? Yes, of course it can. Can it do so in a way that is irresponsible to a proportion of it’s own citizens? Yes, of course it can, but be prepared to have some opposition to that from those citizens and from others empathetic to their situation.

What you seem to want is a Brexit with no opposition. Perhaps Brexiters should have spent some of the last 3 years compromising and explaining the benefits of Brexit to get more people on side with it.
