          Yet a mere few years after Churchill's speech, the Empire was no more. And now, most probably, the Union will be split up.
          As the New Statesman says in an article this week, England will need to decide what it wants to be.

              England will be smaller than Italy in population. And will have a much smaller manufacturing industry (although larger services).
              But give the ageing demographics of England (and the current propensity by all parties to splurge on the magic money tree) , I suspect the debt/GDP ratio will accelerate to Italy's level within a generation.

                Patrick Minford has made it clear in his championing of Brexit that manufacturing will be virtually eliminated.
