Covid-19 is same as hard brexit

    Borders closed or checks imposed
    airlines grounded
    economy crash
    Unemployment on the rise (soon)

This is what would happen with hard brexit, only Corona is doing it one year earlier then we would have expected it. It will also make the recovery after hard brexit even more difficult

But I'm sure the Dunkirk spirit will prevail as we already can see in the supermarkets with empty shells, all for themselves.

Brexit (you don't need to say 'hard' anymore as that's all that you can have now) is actually quite different. Everything carries on much as before except i) you are losing a small percentage of businesses who become unviable but that happens in the normal run of events, ii) some companies having to pay more to do business (because of all the extra costs, delays and hassle), iii) a small reduction in overall GDP because of the loss of favourable trade relationships. Brexit is a few less beds in each hospital. Brexit is a few more crimes ignored by the police. Brexit is schools having a touch less cash to provide courses they would like etc. Brexit is what has been happening under the Tories for decades only just a bit worse. We can cope. Coronavirus is extremely noticeable and everyone is panicking because they've no idea where this will go.

What would YOU know about Dunkirk spirit? A few short months after Dunkirk the Ukrainians were welcoming the Nazis with open arms as liberators.

For many the choice was between the Nazis and the Soviets, at the time Nazis seemed to be the better option also for the Baltic states. But what does a potato peeler know about history?
