Brexit has 'unblocked' EU from doing what it wants, bloc's ambassador to UK says | The Independent

Britain's departure from the EU has 'unblocked' Europe from acting in certain policy areas, the bloc's ambassador to the UK has said.

João Vale de Almeida, Europe's first representative to Britain after Brexit, said the UK leaving had also increased support for the union overall.

He argued that while Brexit was a "lose-lose" situation, there was also a "bright side" whereby Britain's previous vetoing of important EU policies was no longer taking place.
Everyone is a winner! EU finally free from vile tulip that is Britain!

“How come the Germans do everything better, and when all we have to do is copy them, we fail?”
Therein lies one of the most profound questions of modern British politics.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Because nobody knows where the Sudetenland is...

Or, nobody wants (or has the balls to try) to tear up a thousand years of 'the British way of doing things' and adopt the German models of Government, democracy, education, and pretty much everything else which The Germans do differently. And yes, in some cases much better. Germany is a very young country, and after WWII they went back to square one. It isn't such a profound question when you're comparing apples with something that isn't apples.

Well it looks like the UK government are starting to copy other countries ways of doing things, apart from moving to the Google/Apple method of the app, here's another one: Reopened pubs will take names and details of drinkers | News | The Times Maybe if the British government hadn't been so pig headed, the country wouldn't be in the state it is now but you get what you voted for...

While the Germans had the acrimony of losing WW2, they were demilitarised, giving them a massive financial advantage of not having to worry about armed forces spending and could therefore concentrate on industrial efforts instead. Instead we ended up heavily unionised and outputting the Morris Marina and MG Maestro.
