You know the reason for that is that they incurred disproportionate costs of meeting EU regulations relative to any subsidies they received (or, in many cases, didn't). UK consumers could well benefit from reduced costs, once the farmers have recouped some of their long-term losses.
His heart is in the right place - shame we can't say the same about his brain...
We won't have long to find out I guess. We import a lot of meat, we export a lot of meat. I guess the dynamic might change and we end up eating locally. Perhaps the costs will rise overall, but the benefit might be healthier people. Let's face it, meat is for the rich.
