    Do you Opt Out?

There was a poll a while back, I cannot find it now but given it may have been a long time ago and legislation has changed since then, I'd like to run another.

I am tired of agents telling me 'everyone opts out' and knowing it is a blatant lie.

IIRC, the last poll got about 60 replies. Given that oftern there are >750 people looking at a forum at the same time, they cannot all be sockies so please take a few seconds to answer so that reasonable numbers can be ascertained.

    Thanks.

Edit: true to form, I answered 'Always' when I meant 'Never' proving that there are statistics, lies and CUK polls.
    32
    Always
    40.63%
    13
    Never
    28.13%
    9
    Sometimes
    31.25%
    10
    AndyW is NOT an option
    0.00%
    0

    The poll is expired.

I used to opt out religiously but simply don't bother any more, beyond not signing anything the agency includes in their contract documentation. The regs are being reviewed at the moment, so let's hope we get a more sensible choice going forward.

'Never' opt-out. No religion involved. Acting as a business with interests of the company shareholders in mind.

      I nearly voted 'Always' too!

I don't bother one way or the other. It really isn't a deal breaker for me.

But opt out status is determined by either our action or inaction regardless of whether we are bothered. Do you always leave the question until after you have been introduced? In which case you will be not opted out of course.

I mean that I don't fight the agent over it. I just sign it.

Same for me now. I got in to fight with one agent about this awhile ago that came to nothing. Every time I've signed its been after introduction anyway. Have a word, if it's going to be a mess I just sign.

I never volunteer to, but when it's clear that it's an "opt out or don't actually get submitted" I do.

Yes the agents aren't allowed to, but let's face it not only do we lack a way to enforce the rules, but they can easily claim that there were better candidates so it's a total farce.

If only the stupid opt out hadn't been negotiated in the first place we wouldn't have been saddled with this particular mess for years.

I wonder which organisation was responsible for having the opt out put in to the legislation?
