To be honest if you are being canned for poor performance you are probably doing them a favour so they won't come after you for breach of contract or anything.

Theres absolutely no basis to poor performance, as the post mentioned I've been told how good a job I'm doing by several senior people

It happens. They only thing you can do is go legal in which case you'd get canned for being a pain in the arse.

The client isn't being very clever here TBH. You have a notice period but you also have a clause saying you get paid on receipt of a signed time sheet. What they should do is give you notice your contract will end in 4 weeks and then just not ask you to come in for those 4 weeks. You do no work, can't get a signed timesheet and therefor don't get paid = immediate termination but to contractual obligations.

You could of course have done something wrong that the one guy that matters doesn't like hence termination for poor performance. People getting canned for poor performance can rarely see or admit to it. As I said earlier, someone doing 19 hours in my team would be a concern not an asset.

Reads to me that the OP has been booted off site but they're paying him 2 weeks garden leave. Seems the OP's purpose here has been "how do I get 4 weeks of free money?".

Seems to me the OP asked too many questions about how do I terminate, client got a whiff and did it first citing poor performance which is neither here nor there, now OP is miffed because the initiative has gone.

Time to get over it. It is not clear either how long the OP was at the contract. That would be interesting to know.

In my experience the only reason somebody would put 19 hour days in is because they are paid hourly not daily. If that's the case, maybe they pulled the plug because of the cost?

It's funny the effect that hourly/daily rates can have. Paid daily and you're out the door as soon as you can. Paid hourly and they have to prise you away from your desk. :-)

Irrelevant. Dont get upset about it. Like I said, could just be bollax excuse to get rid of you/ face dont fit etc.

I've worked clients where permies are tossers. Do anything to moan about the contractors. One place - any excuse the permies would moan and try to get contractor shown the door. They binned a few decent fellas when I was there.

Never happened to me - although I had the moans about me too. In the end got out when I could but Im sure at some point some permie would have found fault and got me the boot eventually. tulip happens.

As suggested by others, pocket the 2 weeks and move on. A contractors fall from grace can be sudden and often without logic. Don't pore over it on here and change your Username before you reappear. These things rarely come back to haunt you, but the quieter you go the less likely anyone will associate you with anything bad. If you need a referee then let the dust settle and quietly approach one of the managers you say has praised you and see if they'll act as a verbal only referee.
