Wrong. I've worked with banking clients and have been allowed to WFH regularly (pre-Covid).

Its all about building up trust with your client and proving you can deliver unattended. Perhaps LPM's aren't that trustworthy

I agree with Paralytic. I've worked at multiple banks over the years, and virtually all of them were completely fine with WFH. Albeit, outside of London though.

Worked with 3 banking clients (not London) and they all had different approaches:

    - one had 2 mandatory wfh days because there were more people than desks so there was a rota
    - one had a no wfh policy and I managed to wfh probably 5 times in 12 months and just because my team was "cooler than the rest"
    - one didn't care if I was wfh as long as I was delivering

Would be nice to see if and how those approaches will change if and when we go back to normal (although I think this is the new normal)

If a client is happy to have people working remotely from the other side of the world then they were always going to go down that route eventually anyway.

When the accountants take over and the only focus is saving money, even if it delays delivery and long term costs money, then one of the first things they will look at it getting rid of contractors on several hundred pounds a day.

Alternatively, it has opened up the whole world for specialists that have something to sell.

To put it another way every company is different let alone every sector.

Then when things aren't delivered on time they hire some contractors/permies to try and whip those remote workers into shape and/or to do some of the more specialist work.
