    Default CV wordsearch optimisation

Just had a frustrating conversation with an agent who was adamant that I needed to rewrite my CV listing all technical skills used against each and every contract repeatedly.
Apparently listing technical skills in a separate section was not acceptable. All to do with computerised word search and CV filtering allegedly.

By that logic padding my CV with the word Cloud 100 times would make me a shoeshine, whilst just listing my role as Cloud Architect is a no hoper.

Anyone encountered this before? It's contrary to what I've been advised previously.

How very quaint - they must be in a 00's time warp when we squeezed 9 font white text buzzwords all over our CVs.

If you want to waste 1/2 hour doing that just for this agent then go ahead - otherwise tell them that technology means that the rest of us are living in 2018...

    Get a different agent.

If they are incapable of selling you, but are, instead, just dumping your CV into a big vat hoping it gets picked, then they are not worth dealing with.

oh no, doesn't that work anymore? What to do these days to get noticed then when you don't know the agent then?

Yep I said they could either submit CV as is or not, their choice.

I do highlight major technologies used for each contract, but this agent seemed stuck on the concept of listing everything.

"white text buzzwords all over CVs." Yes, this...

I find that cutting and pasting the role description into the header in white text usually does the trick. Calls come in very quickly.

OP you have to remind constantly most agents used to work either:

    Supermarket shelf stacking.
    Estate Agents cold calling.
    Telesales.
    ANother commission based selling.

Very few have any relevant IT knowledge most are just a filter barrier until someone more experienced gets hold of your CV. The churn on recruitment agencies nowadays is way higher than it used to be so get used to very inexperienced staff calling. Check out their linkedin profiles many are truly eye opening ex bar staff or leisure industry based!
