Contracting in The United States

Has anyone had any a Contract in the US, I have been offered a contract for six months in Los Angeles.
The rate is OK, but are there things to look out for, ie pitfalls to avoid.

I did several contracts in the NYC. Had a green card and the right to work there.

Much the same as working in the UK. You'll probably need to set up a company - usually done by an accountant for a small / zero fee. Opening a business bank account was probably easier than here, but this was pre-9/11 so may well have changed.

It probably isn't a "contract" as you think of it. It's probably a temp role that requires your right to work their (e.g., H-1B employment visa, GC, citizenship), which you probably don't have if you're asking the question...

FWIW, the first article may be couched in the language of “contracting”, but an H-1B visa is straightforwardly an employment visa for specialist occupations. The sponsor is the employer.
