WTFH you must know by now that I don't walk away in the face of adversity, especially when I don't have anything else lined up and so I shall have to suffer an indignity worse than having to respond to BR14's posts. Nonetheless, I'll check with the agency first because they could potentially advise on what is the minimum acceptable information.

I hope that includes the North West of England. Now I know you have a disability, I shall make special allowances for your conduct on the forum.
I've only come across one employer who openly and lawfully discriminates, on the GCHQ recruitment page there is something along the lines of "please don't waste your time applying if you have a history of drug and alcohol misuse or bipolar". It seems a bit unfair to be lumped in with the vices normally associated with contractors.

Another reason for their intrusive questions might be that they don't want you working there, and then suing them later for "making you ill". I've worked in noisy environments where they test your hearing at the start of the contract and at the end for this very reason.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!Comment

Let's be clear here the contract you have been offered is working at Sellafield.
Sellafield has a lot of contractors as most things are outsourced to the appropriate specialists and have been for a very long time. Equally the land is still heavily contaminated - which is why Nuclear reprocessing has remained there as nothing else can be done with the land and there is no point risking anywhere else getting into the same state.
But take the contract or not - it's up to you and there may be few other options around. but if you argue over the medical chances are they will move to the next person on the list (believe me they are not fussy and understand how substitution works).Last edited by eek; 6 December 2019, 07:35.merely at clientco for the entertainmentComment

It’s all public sector though so they don’t really understand the difference between staff and contractors.
So IR35 is almost certainly not an issue for the OP.
It’s also just a health and safety thing.
Assuming that eek and I are correct just complete the forms and don’t fret too much.
Worry more about the surrounding area being a massive tuliphole. Get some digs in the Lake District, accept the toilet that is the Cumbrian coast, or plan on an awful commute.See You Next TuesdayComment
