There will be no shortages of contracts, but everything will be inside IR35 and you will compete with converted perms and cheap workers flown in by big consultancies.

There still seems to be a decent number of roles popping up on the DOS framework, most of those are outside IR35. Depends on what you're looking for, of course.

And I’m guessing that if I have to do the Mon-Fri stopover the rates aren’t going to be sufficient to compensate for the loss of expenses. Haven’t had to do that anyway for the last 6 years - all my roles have been commutable or WFH.

And yes, two of my previous clients no longer hire independent contractors - they’ve got Accenture/TCS in.

It really does seem like a perfect storm all this.

I've started getting emails from pimps again.

Fair amount of stuff popping up on the Digital Outcomes and Specialists framework, much of it outside IR35.

Market is slow generally atm due to the COVID crisis, but there is still stuff around. I've been approached for a couple of gigs that were looking for a remote start then flexible working once things calmed down. It really depends on what you do and what sector you work in.

Do change the record old chap. There is still plenty of outside IR35 work around, including coming out of the Public Sector. A few of the large corp's., in finance in particular, have taken the decision to go inside for everything but it's far from a blanket situation across the market.

If you're prepared to work anywhere, but can't land a role within a year, I'd say a new career might be in order.
