    Maybe the other applicants were "fresher" than you. Or didn't come across as entitled.

    Either way the company can employee a chimp if it wants to. Be grateful they gave you any feedback, learn from it and move on.

      Perhaps they are concerned that having left once before and then leading the life as a contractor, doesn't fit in with their ideal employee profile. Should a more attractive contractor role come up elsewhere you are more likely to scoot off...?

          There's more to knowing DNS and DHCP than clicking on things in Windows you know.

          Perhaps they want someone who knows Unix and therefore knows the guts of these things rather than just clicking OK and Next.

                  They could also have not chosen you as you are the type that walks around moaning about life being unfair and generally being a difficult person to look after and manage and are using the experience as an excuse to have something tangible to tell you. We just don't want you can often lead to people complaining.
