But also worth pointing out that the impact of this will be much wider than ipse members, so opinions and questions expressed by non-members here are very valid - one can hardly expect people to pay to join an organisation whose views they disagree with just so that their objections can be heard.

Indeed, I won't join IPSE (for reasons I've made clear), but it's very obvious that the proposals will have wide ranging impacts for non members who are undoubtedly the majority of the contractor community.
Moving the conversation to an IPSE closed forum looks and smells like a blatant attempt to shove matters under the carpet.

No, I think it is realised now that these concerns are real and valid and cannot just be dismissed by cries of 'Bollocks'. Hopefully some useful dialogue will come of it.

I think the issue is that IPSE is claiming to represent 4 million+ people off the back of the views of a very small number who actively participate in IPSE. Given the far broader reach that the CUK forum has over the IPSE forum, maybe this is a good place to start?

Yes, precisely why I think the discussion needs to continue here (and there, as well, of course). I totally disagree with the view that the discussion should be supplanted to the IPSE forum where it is somehow argued to have more resonance. There's a much broader cross-section of contractors willing to participate here. Hopefully, the discussion here will attract a few more IPSE folks too, as I'm not aware of many that actively participate (Mal, v8gaz, perhaps a couple more). We could do with a greater variety of...er...presentational styles of the IPSE policies too
