Is it for a lady? Can't go wrong with Chanel No 5.

For a blurke, Issey Miayke. Although nowadays it';s all non gender specific so maybe CKOne!

I look forward to your all knowing and likely sarcastic and unhelpful reply.

Why not buy Perfumes: The A-Z Guide, by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez (2009) and let the recipient decide?

I bought a previous edition of this a couple of years ago, and it's hilarious in places and very informative. Some expensive perfumes, it seems, are actually very poor both in scent and endurance.

For a lady, got Issey Miayke a few years ago, she wears Prada these days.

Channel 5 when she turns 60.

No 5 is a winner regardless - just a cut above the rest

It depends what her taste is (citrus, flowery etc.) so you could ask the shop assistant to recommend something like that.
'Celebrity' perfumes tend to smell like cat piss, so I'd avoid.

I like Miss Dior and Givenchy Organza, if that helps (and if anyone is still struggling for ideas for my gift

I read recently that perfumes are unisex these days.

So perhaps next year to keep up with the times we guys should start drenching ourselves in Chanel No 5

I mostly wear Chanel No 5 and I'm not sixty yet.

Miss Dior's nice. Quite like Aqua di Gio too (looks like there's also now a men's one - dunno if it's the same product.)
