    From the manifesto:

“Keep our ambition of delivering annual net migration in the tens of thousands, not the hundreds of thousands.”
They've diluted it from "target" in the previous manifesto to "ambition" now...
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

Net migration up to 298,000 as Conservative target missed - BBC News

the biggest increase in net migration was from outside the EU.
It was 190,000 in the year ending September 2014, up from 138,000 in the previous year
ah...so the biggest increase in net migration was outside the EU.

Oh well just in case there is a connection I suppose we'd better leave the EU, though I suspect that won't make much difference.

David Cameron won't 'cave in' on migration target despite new figures - BBC News

◾Employment of non-British EU nationals in the UK in January to March 2015 was 283,000 higher than the previous year
We are importing a population the size of small city every year just from the EU. Most of them wanting to live in the south of England.

Lucky we've got all those empty houses for them to live in eh?

On the plus side it means house prices can only go up as there is never going to be enough houses built to meet demand
Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the state.

No Socialist Government conducting the entire life and industry of the country could afford to allow free, sharp, or violently-worded expressions of public discontent.

That's been the case in the past. In the future how will people earn enough to pay for them? And imagine the negative equity if/when the economy crashes

              Meanwhile in Scotland...

ScottishGovernment - News - Scottish Migration Figures

Between mid-2013 and mid-2014, 33,200 people came to Scotland from overseas and 25,200 left Scotland to go overseas giving a net migration gain of 8,000, which represents about 1 in 700 (0.14 per cent) of the total population
              8,000 out of 318,000.

Just 2.5% of the immigrants go to Scotland. 97.5% to the rest of the UK. And that smug bitch Sturgeon is loving it

Her party intends on imposing a points-based system for migrants outside Scotland anyway, doesn't it? Of course that'd be excluding EU migrants, but as those figures show, it's not like Scotland gets that many anyway.

Most of what the Tories seem to be proposing appear to be rather ill thought out measures to make up for the fact that they have very little control over EU migration. Then again, the obsession with net migration is itself pretty ill conceived to begin with.

I thought Scotland wanted high immigration? Weren't they bleating on about needing more workers?

                    Emigration 327000
                    Immigration from the EU 251000

Right is that negative or not ?

Immigration from outside the EU 292,000

The government can stop net migration tomorrow if it really wants to. It has complete control of immigration of non-EU citizens. 292000 to be exact.

That' s a population of a small city, could be stopped tomorrow. It is perfectly within the power of the government to set a quota on non-EU immigrants so that emigration matches immigration. You could still allow 100000 non EU immigrants and have no net migration.

I'm ok interest rates could go up to 20% and I'd get by, unlike most of the country
