    Outdoor Webcams / Camera

    Thinking of getting a security camera outside. Our house has a long fence running down the side of the road and we've had some issues with kids kicking holes in the fences, a house broken into across the road and some arsehole who insists on letting their dog tulip in our front garden (Not caught him yet, but 5 times in the last 6 weeks, again this morning, it's only a matter of time).

    Does anyone have any recommendations on a system?

    I have two systems, IP cameras to a server that records and a standalone camera that takes short video when the PIR sets it off.

    The down side is whenever evidence is collected, the police are not interested, they are too busy sending three patrol cars to Tesco for someone steeling a can of beer.

      Swann have OK kit at cheap prices but after service is poor. You cable it up, scan a QR sticker on the box and that sorts out it all working in the phone app.

        I can recommend Hikvision cameras, resolution is 1080p and they work well in low light. IP Camera so you just need a POE switch and plug it into your existing home server (it's on 24/7 right?) their software (PC-NVR) is free and can e.g. just record when it detects motion, send you an email, even switch security lights on etc.

        I paid about 300 for two about a year ago when we were having issues with a neighbour.

        Think mine are these from here

          This is true. My CCTV caught a gimp smashing car windscreens a few weeks ago. After the police couldn't make YouTube work and I emailed them the video they called (after two weeks and me chasing) and confirmed the Commissioner has prioritised historical sex crimes over vandalism and criminal damage.

            If he was roaming the streets dressed as a gimp then there's a strong possibility they could have killed 2 birds with one stone.

              Seems to be there are lots of options, pros and cons for each.

              Headed over to Maplins and I thought I would use a wifi motion detector webcam and pop it inside. But then the one I looked at had to use a subscription cloud service, which was a pain

              With that in mind, can anyone recommend a decent wireless web cam?

                Can't you just move away from Hull?

                  Inflatable hot tub and then outside webcam.

                  Revenge porn?

                    .

                    Maplin = expensive, like 2 x price
