It was a Russian BUK, on its holidays at Sharm El Shiek.

ISIS releases video purporting to show final moments of Russian plane

So, if true that means they have the hardware and know - how to shoot down an aircraft flying at 30,000+ feet.

    That's pretty scary

Frankly, I'm surprised airlines fly over territory where ISIS is active. Mind you, that's a lot of real estate to avoid these days....

Why not a baggage handler at the airport loading a package with a barometric pressure trigger

Failing that - Colonel Mustard, in the desert, with a BUK

The linked story is in the Daily Mail, so we can say with near absolute certainty that it isn't true.

BBC dumbs down. Why can't we wait for some facts?

This aircraft had a serious tail strike a few years ago, then it now breaks up in mid-air. Might be a coincidence but I'd be surprised if it was.

I flew from Chelyabinsk to Moscow on a Tu-154, got up really close cos I was late and being escorted under the plane (wot Health and Safety?), and was gobsmacked at the amount of multicoloured poorly-rivetted panels around the tail area, was 2003 though.

Reason I was late is so they could charge me £3 excess baggage.......

Tu-154 has a poor record, plenty of crashes but I've been on loads that didnt crash so I think they're ok!
