        That is sad. I remember hearing that he was playing a match at the height of his hard man reputation. An opposition player decided to elbow him in the mouth. Tommy's teeth went through the skin. But he still smiled at his opponent who knew he was really in trouble.

          Another fave is the one where a winger nutmegged him in the first few mins of a match. The ball went out for a goal-kick, and as they were jogging back for the kick, Smith said to the winger "do that again and I'll break your f***ing neck". The ref was in earshot range and the winger asked the ref what he was going to do about it, the ref said "I suggest you go and play on the other wing".
