Oh look -it's another nostalgia thread... wasn't there one of these er..., 5 minutes ago?

How long before somebody mentions Jumpers for goalposts

I remember one time Frank Zappa talking about how the amount of time between an event and the nostalgia for that event getting shorter and shorter over time so that at some time in the future we won't be able to do anything without getting nostalgic about what we just done.

    The Result?

    Death by nostagia...

Here's me (the good looking one on the left) and my two brothers circa Xmas 1967 with our Cambodian Christmas Tree behind. Note the state-of-the-art telly, not even switched on...

I closed mine down in the 2000s when I noticed that the interest I got on my £80 in the year I opened it was less than I got on the £2000 it had ended up with.

Same here, we missed a rather good film one night (can't remember what it was) because some twunt shot Ronald Regan and the news got extended, the 50p ran out before the end of the film.

Ice on the inside of the windows winter mornings.
No central heating - just a gas fire in the living room.
B&W TV - when the cameramen weren't on strike

The 80s were better (God bless you Maggie):
              Colour TV
              Central heating
              Private school

Nostalgia's not what it used to be.
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Maybe this is 80s and therefore

Having your dad explain to you that despite there being abso-flippin-lutely ZERO films available, getting a Betamax rather than a VHS was the right choice as they were better quality machines.
