French Euro 2016 team's English anthem criticised - BBC News

Someone should point out to them that the lyrics are not in English but in American. And if Europe is going to become a sovereign nation then it will need a single language.

Could you imagine the England football team singing 'Dieu sauvez la reine'? It'll take 'em decades to learn French, so the language is quite safe.

Isn't this their equivalent of those the England team put out for major tournaments? So makes sense they'll be in English if they want wider coverage and therefore sales. Same as Abba not singing in Swedish.

Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

True, but the Swedish Government doesn't have to put up with institutions and law requiring Swedish like the French have.

The French are more than a little touchy about their language coming well behind English in widespread use, they also get very upset about the adoption of Anglo words into everyday French. The Internet being essentially in English has them in a permanent state of frenzy.
English is the defacto lingua-franca of the World and there's bugger all the French can do about it.

That should be in our conditions for Britremain
English the official language of Europe (all roadsigns, documents, radio broadcast etc)

They all have to switch to driving on the left (proper like)
