According to a recent New York Times article, carbon trading is one of the "fastest-growing specialties in financial services." And companies are scrambling to get a slice of a market now worth well over 100 billion and that could grow to $1 trillion within a decade.

The article, "In London's Financial World, Carbon Trading Is the New Big Thing," goes on: "Carbon will be the world's biggest commodity market, and it could become the world's biggest market over all."

That article seems to be nearly a decade old. Despite Wall St's ability to monetise just about anything it is fair to say that the much-anticipated profits never really materialised.

Others have argued that the records were caused by El Nino, a complex natural phenomenon that takes place every few years, and has nothing to do with greenhouse gas emissions by humans. ...

I wonder if it has occurred to these muppets, believing what they want to believe or are paid to believe, that the more energy is pumped into the system the wilder the fluctuations, as cold water is swilled up from ever greater oceanic depths and more Antarctic ice melts.
