We are just starting 2017 so house prices and mortage can be different from their prediction.

Spoke to Coventry BS today. Their index linked valuation came back at £343k and their online valuation £365k - just short of the £370k we need. They've agreed to send a surveyor to value it free of charge tomorrow so fingers crossed. Looking at 1.85% fixed for 5 years if we get the right valuation. Good service though!

The actual value is meaningless - we aren't selling for a long time - but still. I'm glad we didn't wait around much longer to buy.
      Coventry seem really good.

Good time to fix IMO. Have been pondering a mortgage (equity release) since late 2016 and have seen rates trickle upwards since then.

We were going for a 2 year fixed rate but now looking at a 5 year fixed offset mortgage. Longer term security but with more flexibility. Stick all the savings/income in there and actually have your cash balance work for you.
