The EU are growing too, with Spain and some Estern European countries being the stellar performers :

I have a modest pot in Euros, rather more in dollars and CHF.

That's good, I have rather more than I would otherwise had due to pre-referendum planning.

UK growth due to unsustainable consumer spending spree

"The economy’s brisk growth at the end of 2016 has all the hallmarks of being driven by an unsustainable consumer spending spree,” said Samuel Tombs, an economist at Capital Economics in London.

yeah you can read the headline but you caught the message, about the reason being the unsustainable consumer boom.

the latest data show that it remains overly reliant on one sector

Interestingly the sharp drop in the pound hasn't led to any appreciable improvement of export performance, probably because supply chains are so complex and cross border nowadays that constituent parts and sub-assemblies have also become more expensive.
So the argument that the fall in the pound would make up for tariffs seems to be nonsense.
And I do hope all these potential non-EU trade agreements being bandied around are mainly services based since that is > 80% of the economy.
Oh wait, they're not are they?

"It's the wrong type of growth".

It's always the wrong type of growth.

                Severe shock scenario, anyone?

Coming up. Postponed by central bank action post referendum. Or did you forget that minor detail?
