But there is a difference between intolerance and the application of law to enforce that intolerance. Public nudity is against cultural sensitivities but is legal in England and Wales as long as the intention is not to harass, alarm or distress (more or less).

It seems very much against the principles of liberty to use the law against someone who chooses to dress in a certain way (assuming of course that is their choice).

It is a decision for law makers to decide, we are not free to do whatever we feel like doing.

Male circumcision does not have the same tendency to cause severe medical problems, nor does it remove or reduce sexual pleasure. If circumcision were like FGM, it would be removing the entire glans - not just a bit of skin. It really isn't in the same ...er... ball park.

No it's nothing to do with opposition to mainstream cultural sensitivities. It's about the rights of an individual. If an individual is forced to wear full dress for example by a religion then that practice should outlawed.

I think perhaps the hope was that these religions would find a balance within the country and some of these awful practices would stop. Perhaps in a few more generations, I really don't know.
