    So for example, they'll offer pre-interview sarnies and canopes and suchlike, but as soon as the candidates have scoffed all they can eat of these, the interviewers will rush in bellowing and blowing whistles and you'll all be packed off on a ten mile run!

    You are suppose to eat before. That way if they offer you food or drink you accept to be polite but just take a bite or sip to be polite.
