State Pension Age Likely To Go Up

The reports are finally published and both recommend and accelerated increase in the state pension age. In short this means if you are 50 or under expect your pension age to go up by at least a year- linky

Oh and the government (of any colour) will bring this in quietly which is why I'm posting it.

Yep one day you will be looking around the office and some grey old man in a rocking chair will be mumbling about Windows 3.1 and telling you all how much better it was in the old days

What you mean when people walked around the office to talk to each other?

Oh and in the future companies won't have most of their staff in offices if they can help it. You may as well out source the expense of where to work to the workers.

IF there jobs to do then it makes sense... people are living longer and are much more fit and healthy at 70 than previously.

However it seems very unlikely there will BE many jobs for 70-year-olds in 20 years time.. the state pension and retirement age is going to be massively archaic and outdated well before then.

its alright we have been letting in lots of cheap young labour to undercut them despite knowing it was an issue for 40 years.

If you make the old work they tend to stay healthy longer. You need them to work longer to pay for pensions.

so import cheap labour to wait tables & pick fruit.
