She never even had to force down a corned beef and onion sarnie. Toasted because the bread was stale. She never had the jelly off the corned beef as a "treat". She never cut her hand opening a tin of Princes because the key snapped off and it had to be opened with a knife. Corned beef- the meat of the working class.
As a kid we use to eat corn beef with pasta or rice. It was made up in a tomato sauce.
I never ate it in sandwiches because most of the time I ate jam or marmalade sandwiches. Then occasionally crisp sandwiches and also tomato ketchup sandwiches.
Oh and I'm not a socialist I'm liberal hence I prefer to drink beer."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

And did you have an outdoor lav too?

The other house the neighbour had an outdoor lav but ours was inside.
Both houses were Victorian horrible draughty things and the council gave my parents grants to do various things to stop them falling down."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment
