The price of "controlling yer borders", innit?

Them truckers will have to make up the loss in earnings by bringing in illegal immigrants.

        Oh you're back already.

That must be the shortest flounce since the person who rushed out of a room in a huff, only to realise too late that some practical joker had nailed a large rubber band across the doorway half way up!

Even though Turkey has agreement s with the EU, there are border queues from 20 to 30 km a few days a week between. BG and TY
There are Two days of queues between RO and Ukraine.

In the 70s, I had to wait 24 to 30 hours at Dover to clear a small van or car.

Apart for job losses and higher prices, the silver linning will be the oportunity for grey imports.

According to Wikipedia that's happened 74 times in 20 years. If we'd had customs checks causing the same sorts of delays, that's 7,304 times in 20 years. But no, it's not much of a change. May as well stop pretending the M20 is a motorway and just designate it a lorry park.

Okay so in reality there's not going to be customs checks at the border to any significant degree. This means we can all continue to laugh at the "Get control of our borders!" idiots, which is a plus. However, the alternative to custom checks is far more terrifying. Everything will be done electronically, which means the whole thing will hinge on a Government IT system.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.
