    Taxed @ 10% IIRC.

I've not done it but colleagues have, and there are pros and cons which vary, depending on your personal circumstances.

While the rates aren't especially great, if you're on doing back to back then you're effectively spending nothing for half the time of the contract and 28/28 means nice chunks of time off to travel/do whatever.

In terms of danger...not heard of anything happening to western nationals in the last few years but then again, I can't say I've been paying attention.

But yeah, it's a weird one Iraq....

ETA: considering all of the above can be applied to safer countries, it's very odd there isn't an uplift applied...

Having worked in Defence previously although never going myself I know that there are MASSIVE bonuses on offer to permies in a lot of cases. Life changing amounts. Talking about in active war zone here mind like afghanistan at the time.

I know of one lad who went a few times for a month or two each time. He had enough to put down a massive deposit on his first house out of it. And not sure if he had enough days in the end but an active service medal if you're there for long enough.

Did have to be fitted for helmet and flak jacket mind before they let him on transport out there. Would've put me off right off....
    Rhyddid i lofnod psychocandy!!!!
