Apparently, it is the "slowest rate of growth since the first quarter of 2016"

      Here's a Guardian headline 12 months ago

"UK GDP growth slows to 0.4% in first quarter of 2016 "

(and I believe it was revised down to 0.2% subsequently)

Seems to me that UK GDP growth has a tendency to slow down in the first quarter.

United Kingdom GDP Growth Rate | 1955-2017 | Data | Chart | Calendar

"Compared with the same quarter of 2016, the economy grew 2.1 percent, accelerating from a 1.9 percent expansion in the previous period but missing market expectations of a 2.2 percent gain."

Nice theory but falls apart if you go back further than 2 years.

        I'm alright Jack

The general trend has been lower since the beginning of 2015 compared with the two years prior to that.
