    Default High Speed Rail

"China started building a 1,318-km high-speed rail line between Shanghai and Beijing in mid-2008. It was complete in three years."

3 years to build 5 times longer than HS2 that will take 10 years when it starts (after like 5 years of talks/courts), FFS!!!

HS2 funds are going towards the EU bar bill.

It helps that the Chinese aren't troubled by irritations like environmental impact studies, "Elf & Safety", and worst of all, an Electorate.

The Chinese have adopted the Vogon system of intergalactic planning.

Totally - in China if an MP objects to such national projects on the grounds that it would impact view of some of his wealthy voters would get shot with those voters...

Ok, let's say it takes long time to approve things in this country.

Why the fook building 200 km HS2 should take 10 years when Chinese build 5 times longer in 3 years??? It's not just about approval time.

Notwithstanding the fact that the are no MPs or voters, the Chinese adopt the JFDI principle. If a colony of bats were discovered close to the HS2 route, all work would stop indefinitely, until the museli-munchers were satisfied that they had been re-homed. In China, someone would shrug their shoulders and threaten to shoot anyone who complained. It's cheaper, and quicker, but is it really better?

They got more workers to do the job - one of the big reasons work on HS2 could not start until 2017 is because all needed engineers were involved in Crossrail. Instead of training new ones to get two teams working on two projects this country waits for one project to finish...

    It's "can do" attitude

And that's before the trainspotters start protesting about their rights to be able to see more than a blur streaking past.
Maybe tomorrow, I'll want to settle down. Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on.

Also you will not have 5 or 6 companies with their snout in the trough either.
