In 1998, the market share of digital cameras wasn’t even measured. It was a rounding error. By 2005, the market share of film cameras were a rounding error.

    They contend: -
Self-driving cars will launch around 2021
A private ride will be priced at 16¢ per mile, falling to 10¢ over time.
A shared ride will be priced at 5¢ per mile, falling to 3¢ over time.
By 2022, oil use will have peaked
By 2023, used car prices will crash as people give up their vehicles. New car sales for individuals will drop to nearly zero.
By 2030, gasoline use for cars will have dropped to near zero, and total crude oil use will have dropped by 30% compared to today.

    Thoughts?
You can't go dogging discretely in a taxi?
Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

Make sure it does not happen. Let her do as she wants.

What is used to generate all this electricity?

Isn't crude oil also used to make plastic and fertilizer among other things?

Mind you, I suppose that needn't contradict the above, if the vast majority of crude oil is used for petrol.

Indeed! I had thought of that question earlier and meant to add it to the OP.

I prefer lots of coal fired power stations in short term while we build loads of nuclear power stations. All made in the UK from start to finish.

That would be great, but aren't all the British nuclear experts retired, senile or deceased?

Whatever is used to generate electricity...

Overnight recharging can use off-peak supply.

Disagree with the timescale by about 5 to ten years but I think the article and the report it links to are on the money.

What percentage of oil consumption is used for those large cargo ships?

They must use a fair bit, and there are quite a few of them.

                      Something to chew over:
