I seem to recall we had summer/winter uniform with some stipulations, unless the school give dispensation in extreme weather - which they always did.
On the other hand struggling with this kind of things is what made Britain great, some will no doubt say. People used to wear warm clothes in hot weather and in many nations, still do!
The school my daughter goes to refused to allow pupils to refill water bottles after lunch time yesterday. They only allowed break & lunchtime refills and policed the water cooler
Whereas most of us presumably went to schools where the idea of drinking water during lessons would be ridiculous... "not able to refill water bottles" indeed.
