        Hyphens delimit your site concept keywords (which should be contained in your domain name) so they can be picked up by the search engine robots and improve the ranking of your site.

        You could have just one site concept keyword but this would normally result in too much competition. Most people find a niche where supply and demand is the right balance using a combination of 2 or three site concept keywords - hence the need for hyphens.

          Very nice.. now try telling your customers your website and spend the next 5 minutes spelling it out to them at which point they'll do a search and find a very similar URL but using the word 'ideas' which isn't the OP. The customer gets hacked off and goes somewhere else. Not everything is about SEO...... But why I am explaining this to a hand in a sock???
