2004 - The U.K and the EU politicians make a fatal error of judgement by letting a bunch of mickey mouse (sorry, 'still developing') countries join the EU's free labour of movement policy.
Even that important event seems to be now misunderstood, but lets face it the whole Brexit argument is based on a pack of lies.

That is the difference, Britains fault, not the EU's - like so many of the hollow Brexiter arguments
In May 2004, the EU welcomed ten new member states – the majority from Central and Eastern Europe – in what was the largest expansion in the history of European integration. The UK was one of only three member states, alongside Sweden and Ireland, to open its labour market to these new EU citizens immediately.
One can only conclude, this was what big business wanted.
Stick that in your Brexit pipe and smoke it
