Well if the German car industry goes down the plug hole then it will motivate them to shut out the UK from the EU so they can pick up some of the lucrative finance industry.

Yeh because it's that simple isn't it. Why aren't all countries "picking up some of the lucrative finance industry" ?! They're missing a trick!

Yep because the UK is in the EU and therefore they can't pinch the business. After 2019 the EU can make the rules to force banks to move there.

          https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ter-first-step

We’re going to have to move several hundred jobs" as a first response to Britain’s plan to leave the EU, Dimon said Tuesday at a conference in Paris. “People should focus more on the second step, because what happens next is totally up to the EU.”

If the EU determines over time that they want to move a lot more jobs out of London into the EU, they can simply dictate that," he said.

That's all very well the EU coming out with words like "Force", "Dictate" (words remeniscent of 1930's Germany IIRC?)

There's roughly 2 million workers in the UK financial services. You know real people, with things like wives, families, houses, friends, lives in the UK. Are these going to be uprooted en-masse and "Forced" to go and live in Frankfurt? Are they fookers like.

You can't just shift one of the worlds oldest banking and finance industries like you can move Dyson production over to a Chinese factory.

No you're right they'll turn down the job offers to go to Frankfurt and go and work on the fruit farms, where they won't be able to get EU workers.

It won't all shift. Just percentages. The EU can of course determine the extent it wants to change its rules around the single market to accommodate the UK leaving, no matter how much you wail and cry about Germany in the 1930's (FFS). It will be time for you to grow up soon.

Well that's OK then. If we can't get our sprout pickers across the border from the EU, the reciprocal arrangement would be that the EU can't get our UK banking staff over their borders.

Many of these workers are not Brits and can relocate.

Of course you can keep all the financial institutions you like in the UK, most of them are majority state owned anyway. But a large chunk of their business will have no choice but to move to a EU location. So they can either move part of their operation and staff or lose the business. Not to mention the non-UK institutions that hold no allegiance to the union jack.

Aww, are you still crying into your copy of your AudioVisual Creative Media Directive? Don't worry, I'm sure everything will turn out OK for you.
