It's all about the spending - that is all they care about. Hence the maintenance of reasons to spend and desperate urgent need to keep spending.

People with shares in MIC must be laughing all the way to the bank.

North Korea: Am I Being Dumb / Missing Something?

You have to convince people that someone or some country is a threat, that justifies the military spend.
Every so often you need to start a war to justify spending more. Humans are just minor collateral damage in a big business game.

It's so sad to have watched Trump campaign so convincingly that he'd get out of all the 'disastrous' wars and end the policy of interventionism then get into the White House, take one look at the spreadsheets and go full warmonger...

He was also going to "drain the swamp" of all the nepotism, etc, and then decided to employ his family, who have no political knowledge and whose lives have revolved around blowing his father's fortune.

And it's another 'Nyet' from Vlad

“We cannot allow the United States or any other nation to hold this sort of experiments with North Korea,” Senator Konstantin Kosachev said in comments with Izvestia daily.

He also noted that North Korean leadership will do anything to protect itself from external threats and because of that, work on the nuclear program would not stop while the United States and its allies allow the scenario of foreign intervention and forceful displacement on Pyongyang regime.
“Ramping up military hysteria in such conditions is senseless; it’s a dead end,” Putin said. “It could lead to a global, planetary catastrophe and a huge loss of human life. There is no other way to resolve the North Korean nuclear issue, save that of peaceful dialogue.”
Say what you like about Russia/Putin but this is surely the only sane/sensical option is it not?

This is where the problem is - Kim sees external threats as anything which shows North Koreans reality rather than the one he spins for them.

The interesting thing is we know there are huge human rights atrocities in NK - yet we do nothing.

But compare that to all the other persecutions of peoples going on because of faith etc and the whole world is up in arms wringing their hands (if you can do such a thing).

The only reason the US cares about NK is because it is to China what Ukraine is to Russia. There are human rights atrocities going on in a lot of places that aren't reported on or cared about by the West. They want to contain China the way they are trying to contain Russia and if they can invade/regime change NK they can do that.
