Lots of houses sit on the market for a long time before selling at near the asking price. However his house doesn't like it would be one of them. Should be sort that has high churn.

First(ish) rule of Economics - something is only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it.

How does this work Stamp duty wise? Would you still pay stamp duty on the full £175k or just over £5

A better question may be has the person raffling the house heard of VAT?

Jus accepted offer on main residence - if it goes through will have a nice 500K to invest in Europe, after buying a smaller house here.
              Hard Brexit now!

You should simply move in to Swindon's old people's home and save everyone the time and effort, since that's where you're going to end up anyway.
It's either that or end up penniless and dribbling with no health care worth talking about in Cyprus.

Housing market in Kent is definitely slowing down big time. Houses in the area I live in are not even getting viewers and plenty of reductions in asking price. Not seen this kind of slowdown since 2008 so something is definitely brewing.

If you have bought a house as an investment, try to cash in if you still have time, I suspect this boat might have sailed.
