Maybe, but I doubt they'd tell you. We certainly didn't tell the majority of the project team what data we were using for scorecards and whatnot. It's commercially sensitive stuff.

They needed 30 days remaining contract, plus my CV less than 2 months ago I'd say that tallies with what Martin has suggested re 2 years experience.

I'm sure your contractor mortgage broker will be able to explain the shifting sands of different lenders requirements.

Give John Yerou at Freelancer Financials a bell. The doesn't sound right for the Halifax but even if it is they will be able to go find you a product to suit.
I will give them a try and see what they say, hopefully they can help. I maybe should have mentioned im not in the IT industry so maybe that also goes against my acceptability for lenders.

I cant go into the details on a public forum but im hoping my letter to the FOS will gets things rectified. In the meantime i just need to work with what i have. If i find a lender who uses Experian only then i should get accepted. I dont have time to wait.
I'm pretty sure that the ombudsman is only interested after you've exhausted all other avenues directly.

The FOS has nothing to do with this I'm afraid.

It is a data protection issue.

The credit reference agencies who the lenders rely on have nothing to do with the FOS.

You need to complain to the company - who may not be a financial company - to get your file corrected using the Data Protect Act.

I suggest you go to the site of the Information Commissioner and have a read so you mention the right part of the act in your complaint letter. Make sure you send the letter by at least recorded delivery and keep the receipt.

I had to do this with a telecoms company a few years back. They put tulip on my file linking me to other addresses.

Halifax need 2 years books. I called Nationwide, it seems they require 2 years books also.

Most of them require two years books which is why you are advised to go to a specialist contractor mortgage broker.

They are use to dealing with contractors regardless of the profession.

Btw there are different ways of calculating a mortgage which is why using a broker is likely to get what you want.
