List of things to do before April 1st 2019

Nothing to do with Brexit but don't forget to do the following before April 1st 2019

    1) Apply for permanent residence in another country of your choice if you only have UK passport
    2) If you have children look for international school in that country and apply
    3) Sell your house and furniture
    4) Book flights and temp accommodation to chosen country
    5) Wind down your company and pay any outstanding taxes
    6) Throw a leaving party
    7) Pay your bar bill at the local pub
Warning unicorn meat may give you hallucinations

re 1) you can only apply after you lived 5 years continuously in most countries, including EU citizen living in other EU countries, a few countries give you residence status if you invest a large sum of money
re 2) those have often long waiting lists and are not helpful integrating your kids in their new home country
re 3) why? you can let it and if it's worth doing you can move your furniture

      Si really it should be
      1) Build time machine and apply for permanent residence in another country of your choice in 2014 if you only have UK passport
Down with racism. Long live miscegenation!

Agree and if 32 million do that in the same year they may exceed quotas, we will have to be a lot more sneekier about the way we do this. Maybe some immigrants on here can give some pointers?

          1) Apply for permanent residence in another country of your choice if you only have UK passport (citizenship planned for 2018)
          2) If you have children look for international school in that country and apply (in good local school)
          3) Sell your house and furniture (house sold and money transferred at £1 = €1.43)
          4) Book flights and temp accommodation to chosen country (that was a pain - got a permanent employer to do that and then handed notice in after 3 months, stealing client in a contractor role - have since bought a house)
          5) Wind down your company and pay any outstanding taxes (done)
          6) Throw a leaving party (Bah humbug!)
          7) Pay your bar bill at the local pub (left it for the rest of you to pay)
Foresight or luck? Neither, as I've ended up in Ireland which will be royally screwed by Brexit.

Does the saying "Out of the frying pan into the fire" ring any bells?

In five years, chances are you'll be doing all that in reverse to try and get back into the UK!

You think that's when the best fire sale buying opportunity will be for those with hard currency?

Nice to see that one of the shifts in the Brexit message is that it will be crap in the UK, but it's just getting the crapness out of the way early. At least you've stopped pretending that Brexit will be good.

Yes and I do understand the United States of Global Britain will be the ultimate place to go in 5 years but I don't want to make this a Brexit thread so don't want to mention the deportation of British disbelievers.
