    Stem cells harvest at birth

no.2 is on it's way and the missus is arguing for having his stem cells harvested (didn't do it for no.1). I'm more inclined to think of it as scam/vaporware and save ourselves £2k+ for the procedure.

What do y'all think about the whole process?

Do you have some peer reviewed research articles arguing the pros and cons of the idea for me to read in order to make an informed recommendation. Or should I just search out the first Daily Mail article referencing the NHS and go from there?

That's the thing, it's mostly marketing hype from the providers and non-sense drivel from the likes of daily mail. By their own admission there are only a hand full of diseases that are currently curable using the harvested material and it's mostly hope for progress being made in the future.

To be perfectly honest I haven't invested much time in research. Was hoping that someone might have an "inside" knowledge about this from personal experience, family members, friends etc.

Our local NHS hospital did it for free when ours were born, so it was worth it.

Not sure I'd pay £2k for it though.
