This Trump / Russia thing

This whole thing is just a desperate attempt for Hillary/Dems to try and overturn the election result. She's like the turd that won't flush away...

Now that the Donald is firmly playing ball and following instructions/kicking off wars etc I'm not sure what will come of this Russia thing TBH.

The election result can't be overturned. This is about investigating allegations.

did Russia try and influence US Election? - of course they did, all major countries do it to each other, they are looking after their own interests after all

did the Trump campaign actively collaborate with Russian state actors? - possible but evidence is very weak

did Russia hack voting machines? (remember that was the big allegation at the start of the year) - again zero evidence

does Putin have incriminating video of Trump? - erm no he doesn't turns out that the research to find evidence of that was actually funded by the Clinton Campaign, and all it turned up was a highly sceptical dossier what had been rejected for months for mainstream (Democratic leaning) media, until Buzzfeed published

and how much did Facebook & Twitter ads actually influence the voting decisions? - without the internet no doubt Hilary would have won but largely because the vast majority of mainstream media outlets were in the pockets of the democratic party (leaked questions / talking points etc)

and what about actual ties to the Russian state - turns out it was the Clinton Foundation that benefitted to the tune of hundreds of millions from a Uranium deal with Russia that Secretary of State Clinton authorised

This. Whatever you want to call it or however you want to dress it up the whole Trump/Russia thing started to try and get him out of the White House. Now that he's gone full neocon it's not really relevant anymore as he's not going to follow through on his campaign promises (lies) about getting out of all the wars and creating a much safer/peaceful world. (Yes I did buy it at the time).

Nope. It’s not that.
There is no way to overturn a US presidential election.
The college system means even if they could change the votes (which they can’t) he’s still be president. It’s why Dubya was still president even though the recounts suggests he didn’t win.

It is about checks and balances and making damn sure it doesn’t happen again though.

She lost because she was an absolutely horrendous candidate and her opponents had an incredible amount of dirty laundry and they used it all to it's maximum effectiveness. She lost because of Wikileaks, Comey, Podesta and the utter corruption of he family's foundation - oh and that email server thing as well.

Even with the entire establishment and MSM behind her she still lost - and not to a better candidate - to Donald Trump (!) - she still lost to him. That takes some doing...

yes the Russian's bought some social media ads and published all the Wikileaks as they came out but the idea that they hacked/stole/influenced the election is peak snowflake.

The fact that the establishment attempted to force their candidate into the White house and the American people rejected that - even if it meant having Trump instead is a sign of the times.

I believe (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the term 'snowflake' was created to describe people refusing to accept the outcome of this election.

They can investigate all they like - not costing me anything. Especially now he's gone full neocon and lied about 'draining the swamp'. I still don't think there is much to find but yeah - let them carry on. Kick him out - replace him with someone like John McCain. Things won't change except for the fact that the balance of power is changing and they don't seem to be able to do much about it.

Another point on this which might explain why they are dragging it out so long is that they cannot warm or cordial relations with Russia as Trump has several times that he wants to have.

The whole reason NATO exists is to counter the Russian threat and having all those member states paying x% of their GDP into NATO and pumping all that money into the MIC is something that needs to stay as-is.

When your economy becomes dependent on military spending that's a sad state of affairs - but this is why I have no qualms about minimizing my tax liability (because we're just as bad as the yanks with this).

Just because Trump tweets something it does not make it true. In fact the opposite is closer.
